Tiffany's to share provenance of diamonds with customers

On 9 January 2019 jewellery retailer and house of design Tiffany & Co. launched a programme to improve the transparency of their diamonds' supply chains. As of this day, all of Tiffany's stores will provide customers with the country or region of origin for newly-sourced diamonds above .18 carat.

Transparency of diamond supply chains is crucial not only to help ensure stones are not "conflict diamonds" but also that their processes are free of other abuses such as child labour or environmental damage.

Tiffany aims to increase this transparency in 2020 when it should also provide customers with information on where each diamond was cut, polished and set.
