By December 2019, two employees of Al Maidan Sanitary Contracting and AC units had allegedly not been paid for three months. They had worked for the company since January 2019. The company owner had absconded in possession of the workers' passports. The workers were dependent on food charity.

Принятые меры: The employees contacted the Indian consulate for help; labour officials launched an investigation into the men's claims and attempted to track down the employer who they were unable to contact. The consulate issued Emergency Certificates for the workers which enabled them to travel home.
Business & Human Rights Resource Centre contacted Al Maidan to invite them to respond to the allegations; the company did not respond.
