Glencore response

...Kazzinc takes seriously its responsibility to address the impacts within its control and is advancing a range of measures aimed at reducing emissions and improving air quality at its metallurgical sites.

For example, under the current Memorandum of Understanding with the government, Kazzinc is making significant investments in environmental protection and industrial modernisation projects, including upgrades to sulphurous gas treatment systems and the implementation of additional sulphur dioxide reduction initiatives. These measures are intended to support ongoing emissions reductions at Kazzinc’s metallurgical sites and contribute to broader regional environmental improvement efforts.

Kazzinc also participates in atmospheric air quality measurements organised by the Department of Ecology and works closely with government authorities during audits and inspections, taking appropriate action to address any findings. With respect to water quality, Kazzinc conducts monitoring, where relevant, to identify and understan d potential exceedances and maintains ongoing dialogue with the relevant authorities as appropriate. In April 2026, Kazzinc representatives attended the Regional Ecological Summit, reaffirming the company’s commitment to constructive engagement on environmental issues.

Communities in Kazzinc’s area of influence and other affected stakeholders have access to complaints and grievance mechanisms to express concerns, including around environmental issues. Complaints and grievances are investigated and responded to in a timely manner, maintaining an open dialogue with relevant stakeholders, and initiating or participating in appropriate remedies when required.

Our goal is to minimise and mitigate our impacts on nature. Through the Group Environment Policy, Kazzinc is committed to continuous improvement in environmental performance and to working collaboratively with authorities and other stakeholders.
