Hershey's response to allegations associated with AAL
…
We take allegations of NDPE violations seriously, including those published by Friends of the Earth. We continue to communicate with our supplier base that remaining compliant with our No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation (NDPE) policy is not optional.
Since 2013, Hershey has been committed to achieving a traceable and sustainable NDPE palm oil supply chain in line with our Responsible Palm Oil Sourcing Policy, our Supplier Code of Conduct, Human Rights Policy, and our Deforestation and Conversion-Free Policy.
Our Palm Policy applies to our entire supply chain, including direct suppliers and their parent and sister companies at the corporate group level as defined by the RSPO Membership Rules 2020. In instances where someone within the broader supply chain is in violation with any of our policies, Hershey follows our Palm Oil Grievance Procedure. Failure of our direct and indirect suppliers to uphold our NDPE commitments may lead to their removal or suspension from our supply chain in accordance with our sourcing policy. We have taken a number of actions in recent years to remove suppliers from our supply chain who have violated our policies and who do not demonstrate an interest in remediating their issues.
We share details on our engagement around PT Astra Agro Lestari in our public Palm Oil Grievance Log.
- Hershey has no direct sourcing relationship with PT Astra Agro Lestari.
- Hershey suspended PT Astra Agro Lestari in September 2022. We informed our suppliers of this suspension.
- We continue to monitor PT Astra Agro Lestari’s progress report on action plan implementation. We acknowledge that several suppliers have lifted suspensions on PT Astra Agro Lestari based on the progress reported through their action plan implementation.
