Farmers from Panangudi, Narimanan, and Gopurajapuram villages in Nagapattinam district have expressed frustration over the delay in the payment of compensation for the land acquired for the Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (CPCL) project. Despite district administration’s clearance for nearly 2,000 farmers and beneficiaries, payments have not been because of a Government Order for it has not been issued, residents alleged. Over 2,000 petitions have been submitted to the Commissioner of Land Administration and the Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department demanding his immediate intervention in the matter. Farmers are demanding Restoration and Rehabilitation (R&R) relief for 642 acres of land acquired in 2020 for a CPCL project.
