Kongsberg Norcontrol's response re- alleged contract linked to border security & English Channel crossings
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond. Kongsberg Norcontrol Limited has provided technologies to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) since 2004, well before the border crossings of the English Channel began. The English Channel is one of the world’s busiest waterways and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) established the “Dover Straits Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) in the English channel back in 1967 and the primary reason why our client, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) awarded the listed contracts to us was to enable them to provide a Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) to commercial shipping in the Channel.
Our technologies keep commercial shipping safe as vessels transit the Channel. The MCA also deploys our technology in Search And Rescue (SAR) missions related to small boat crossings, swimmer crossings, or any other SAR incident in the Channel. Kongsberg Norcontrol is proud that our technologies are being used to ensure safe, efficient commercial shipping and to protect the marine environment in accordance with international standards including those of the IMO and IALA.
