Public consultation on the proposed EU mandatory due diligence law: A guide for organisations in producing countries

The European Commission has committed to introducing a new law (“mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence”) which would make EU companies accountable for human rights abuses and environmental harm. Until 8 February 2021, the European Commission is collecting input on how this law should work. The law could help reduce abuses in all countries around the world where EU companies work or source from.

The two webinars on...

  • 19 January 2021, 09:00 to 10:45 CET (08:00 to 09:45 GMT) in English, with live interpretation and translation into Thai and Burmese
  • 19 January 2021, 15:00 to 16:45 CET (11:00-12:45 UTC-3) in Spanish, live interpretation into Brazilian Portuguese

...will provide guidance on the opportunity to input into the proposed law: what is the European Commission consultation, how to submit a response, etc.

A set of webinars on 13 January (same hours/languages) will provide a more general introduction to the proposed law and developments in the EU.

The target audience is organisations working in producing countries, where the impact of the proposed EU law will be the greatest. The webinars are not aimed at those already working actively on the EU mandatory due diligence debate.

The webinars are by invitation only. Please contact Chloe Cranston at [email protected] in advance if you are interested in participating.
