Employers urged to adopt code on racial equality [UK]
Employers were urged yesterday by the Commission for Racial Equality to make use of a new code of practice as a way of avoiding costly litigation and improving the quality of their workforce. The code, drawn up in consultation with the CBI [Confederation of British Industry] employers' organisation...recommends that every employer should put in place an equal opportunities policy, covering all areas of employment, from recruitment to dismissal. It urges businesses to train employees from under-represented ethnic groups and to set equality targets as a way of reducing any significant disparities between racial groups in the workplace.
