[Reprieve] accused Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) provider CSC of being involved in the alleged rendition and torture of two men by the CIA…Furthermore, Reprieve has raised concerns over CSC's decision not to back its ‘Zero Tolerance for Torture’ pledge. Crofton Black, a spokesperson for Reprieve, said..."I think consumers need to scrutinise the corporate responsibility claims of any company and see what's actually behind it - genuine commitment or just hot air...For investors, there are groups like Ethix SRI Advisors who take this kind of thing seriously. More generally there's the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre - you can see from Reprieve's website that they have written to DynCorp and CSC regarding their role in renditions, for example.”…In a statement...a CSC spokesperson [said]..."CSC maintains the highest standards of ethics and business conduct, and operates at all times within the laws of all countries where it does business," said the statement....CSC supports global human rights and generally accepted international standards. The company has developed policies and procedures in accordance with Social Accountability International’s Social Accountability 8000, a voluntary standard based on International Labour Organisation and United Nation conventions."
