Jordan: A garment factory threatens to evict its migrant workers

Unofficial translation from Arabic into English by the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre

A garment factory in Al-Hassan Industrial Zone has threatened to evict its migrant workers from the factory accommodation due to their participation in a strike against the non-payment of their wages in March and April. The factory has nearly one hundred workers; most of them are migrant workers.

The Ministry of Labour office in the industrial zone stated that the factory has recently been fined twice due to labour abuses including non-payment of wages and non-compliance with defense order n.6. As a result, the Ministry of Labour has submitted a complaint against the factory to the court.
