No redress for illegal actions during war [Japan]

The Nagoya High Court on Thursday rejected compensation claims of South Korean women forced to work in a Japanese factory during World War II, but acknowledged that the government's actions violated international law. Six South Korean women..., as well as a bereaved family member, were seeking an apology and a total of about 240 million yen in compensation and unpaid wages from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. and the central government.
