In the ruling, the judge argues that “keeping children and adolescents exposed for profit online, without proper assessment of the conditions in which the artistic work takes place and without judicial authorization, brings about serious and immediate risks.”
Named among these risks are the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents, sexualization, adultification, and even contact with alcoholic beverages and gambling.
According to the labor prosecutors who initiated the civil action, the move does not seek to prevent children from participating in artistic activities, but rather to ensure it occurs within legal limits and with due protection...
The lawsuit demands that Meta pay BRL 50 million in collective moral damages. The authorities also request that the company adopt prevention and control measures on its platforms, such as the implementation of filters and systems capable of identifying content involving children and adolescents without judicial authorization. They also ask that the platforms include information on the prohibition of child labor in their security policies.
