Business & Human Rights Resource Centre launches new post covering Australia, New Zealand & the Pacific region

We at the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre are pleased to announce our new post covering Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region. We are delighted to welcome Amy Sinclair, based in Sydney, to our Global Team as the first regional representative and researcher covering the region. This new regional post consolidates and completes our global coverage on business and human rights news and analysis from around the world.

Who we are: The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is a unique global human rights organisation that works to advance respect for human rights in business. Our regional representatives and researchers work closely with diverse partners to build corporate transparency, strengthen accountability and empower human rights advocates in civil society, business and government. They track the human rights performance of more than 7,000 companies worldwide and report publicly on their impacts, from best practice to allegations of abuse. The Resource Centre provides fair and independent coverage of business and human rights news, tools and analysis from around the world. If you are not already a subscriber, we encourage you to visit our website and sign up to our free Weekly Update for the latest news and views on global business and human rights developments.

For those of you already using the Resource Centre, we hope you share our excitement about this news. With moves underway on modern slavery legislation, further implementation of the UN Guiding Principles and Australia's Human Rights Council bid, it is an important step at a key time for business and human rights in the region.

What people are saying: The Resource Centre is widely regarded as an essential business and human rights tool. Here is what our supporters have said:

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre plays an important role at the intersection between governments, business and civil society.  The Resource Centre's credibility and effectiveness, particularly in the UK context, has led DFAT to support its establishment of a presence here in our own region, including to help facilitate the collective effort against modern slavery.

Andrew Goledzinowski AM, Ambassador for People Smuggling and Human Trafficking, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is a one-stop shop for all business and human rights advocates, practitioners and researchers. I use the Resource Centre's website in my research and with my students - it is the premier site in this field.

Justine Nolan, Associate Professor, UNSW Law

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre is my “go to” to keep up to date on key business and human rights developments around the world. It’s important that the Resource Centre now has a presence in our region to ensure that both business and other stakeholders have a better sense of key challenges and opportunities and how they are being addressed.

Vanessa Zimmerman, Chair, Global Compact Network Australia Human Rights Leadership Group
