Prime Minister David Cameron pledged to make the U.K. China’s partner of choice in the West and said that increased trade would give Britain more leverage to push for progress on contentious issues such human rights....Cameron said that he was trying to strike a balance between expanding trade ties with the world’s second-biggest economy and dialogue with China over human rights and on economic issues such as its possible role in bringing down global steel prices that have cost U.K. jobs....Xi said that Chinese-U.K. relations were entering a “golden era” and that he was seeking to build a global strategic partnership with the U.K. that would lead to a win-win relationship for the two countries.
