Iraq: New labour law passed allowing freedom of association & prohibiting child labour, discrimination, sexual harassment

"Determined struggle brings Iraqi workers new labour law", 26 Aug 2015

On 17 August the Iraqi parliament passed a new labour law allowing the right to strike and collective bargaining, prohibiting child labour, discrimination and sexual harassment. It also includes improvements on maternity and pregnancy leave, and addresses rights of sub-contractors and migrant workers without discrimination. Iraq’s new law covers workers in the private, mixed and cooperative sectors, but excludes workers covered by civil service law and the armed forces.
