...1. Access to Food, Water, and Medicine During Strike
During the strike, Nexperia Philippines Inc. did not block access to essential supplies. Water remained available inside the plant at all times. Striking workers were free to exit the premises to receive food or medical care, and emergency assistance was provided when needed. Unfortunately, access to the site itself had to be restricted due to safety concerns following an illegal occupation of the plant by a group of individuals, during which one of our security personnel was injured. The doors were locked from the inside, i.e. by individuals participating in the strike and not by Nexperia management, and several individuals who wished to leave were reportedly prevented from doing so by union enforcers.
- Safety and Security Measures
Given the aggressive nature of the occupation and the risk of escalation, Nexperia took necessary precautions to protect people and property. These measures were implemented in coordination with law enforcement and in full compliance with legal obligations. Our priority was to ensure the safety of all individuals involved, including those inside the facility.
In addition, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) issued an Order of Assumption of Jurisdiction, compelling both parties to enter arbitration and refrain from further escalation, followed by a Return-to-Work Order and a settlement agreement, which formalized the resolution and Nexperia’s commitment to dialogue...
