Prime Minister prioritizes eliminating forced labour in Canadian supply chains in mandate letter to Minister of Labour

"Prime minister hands out mandate letters to federal cabinet ministers detailing specific objectives," 17 Dec. 2021

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has publicly issued his marching orders to the 38 cabinet ministers of the minority Liberal government elected in the fall.

... Immediate priorities [of the Minister of Labour] are to ... [w]ork with federally regulated employers and labour groups, and with provincial and territorial counterparts, to make workplaces fairer and safer for everyone across the country as well as lead government efforts to eradicate forced labour from Canadian supply chains.

... Introduce legislation to eradicate forced labour from Canadian supply chains, and ensure that Canadian businesses operating abroad do not contribute to human rights abuses.
