The Professional Footballers Australia published a video in which 16 Australia national football team players talked about human rights issues associated with the upcoming Qatar 2022 World Cup, namely migrant workers' rights and discrimination against the LGBT community. The players said they have been on a two-year journey to learn more about the situation in Qatar, and that had led them to understand that despite the reforms implementation is still lacking. The full video can be viewed here.

"We stand with FIFPro, the Building and Wood Workers International, and the International Trade Union Confederation, seeking to embed reforms and establish a lasting legacy in Qatar...This must include establishing a migrant resource centre, effective remedy for those who have been denied their rights, and the decriminalisation of all same-sex relationships.

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy responded to the campaign, saying that "no country is perfect" but "commend[ing] footballers using their platforms to raise awareness for important matters".
