Revised Security & Human Rights Toolkit to be launched at webinar on 16 June

The Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Geneva Centre for Business and Human Rights (GCBHR) are pleased to announce the launch of the revised Security & Human Rights Toolkit on 16 June 2022 at 15:00 CEST...

To mark the launch of the Toolkit, the partners are hosting the webinar ‘In This Together: How companies, governments and communities can collaborate to address security and human rights challenges’.

The webinar will explore innovative multi-stakeholder approaches that focus on security-related human rights risks. It will discuss how the new version of the Toolkit can help companies address security-related human rights challenges, engage with concerned communities and develop security arrangements with host States...

Background to the Toolkit:

This Toolkit helps companies to:

  • Strengthen responsible business practices and implement standards such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
  • Avoid risks to business continuity (e.g. operational, reputational, legal), build resilience and maintain a social license to operate.
  • Establish and strengthen human rights due diligence and grievance mechanisms.
  • Strengthen respect for (and avoid risks relating to) international humanitarian law.
  • Undertake conflict risk assessment and respond to specific challenges of managing security providers in conflict-affected areas.
  • Communicate with community members and implement policies to prevent tensions, manage risks and defuel social conflicts.
