UN Working Group issues call for input on guidance for Natl. Action Plans on business & human rights (due: 16 Sep)

The UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights is seeking comments from all stakeholders, including civil society organisations, national human rights institutions, and business representatives on version 2.0 of the Guidance document (available via http://www.ohchr.org/EN/Issues/Business/Pages/NationalActionPlans.aspx), to be sent to wg-business@ohchr.org, by 16 September (indicating "NAP GUIDANCE REVIEW" in the subject line). The Working Group will issue the final version of its Guidance at the Fifth Annual UN Forum on Business and Human Rights, to be held from 14 to 16 November 2016. For more information on the Working Group's efforts to support the development of national action plans on business and  human rights, see: http://www.ohchr.org/EN/Issues/Business/Pages/NationalActionPlans.aspx

The Working Group is also conducting a survey amongst States on national action plans on business and human rights (see: http://www.ohchr.org/EN/Issues/Business/Pages/ImplementationGP.aspx). Apart from soliciting comments from States on the Working Group’s Guidance on National Action Plans, the survey seeks to gauge whether, and how, the development and implementation of National Action Plans on Business and Human Rights have served to better prevent, mitigate and protect against business-related human rights abuse. The results of the survey will inform the Working Group’s revision to its Guidance document and will feed into discussions at the Fifth Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights, as well as other global and regional consultations planned for 2017.
