Canada: Govt. publishes updated guidelines on supporting defenders & emphasises role of business

On the occasion of the United Nation’s High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet’s visit to Canada, the Government of Canada released an updated version of the guidance on supporting human rights defenders for the staff of Canadian missions abroad, Voices at Risk. The revision contains several references to defenders working on business issues, including women, land and environment, and indigenous rights, and a reference to the business guidance on private sector support for human rights defenders. Both English and French versions of the updated guidelines are available below.
