Myanmar worker dies at Seoul underground construction project during a torrential downpour

"Myanmar worker dies at Seoul construction site", 2 August 2019

The Myanmar embassy in Seoul is working to repatriate the body of a Myanmar national who died at a construction site in the South Korean capital, an official from the embassy told The Myanmar Times....

Two South Koreans also died in the accident....

The deceased, Ko Zwe Linn Maung, 23, was from Magwe Region and had been working in South Korea since 2017.

...According to South Korean news reports and the embassy, the victim and two South Korean supervisors became isolated and went missing in an underground construction site for a rainwater drainage project during a torrential downpour.

The project is intended to manage rainwater in parts of Seoul.

...The company Ko Zwe Linn Maung worked for has agreed to pay for bringing his body back to Myanmar, U Zayar Tin Win Htin said. 

“We will also be claiming insurance compensation on his behalf, as he died while at work,” he added.
