Ukraine: Fujikura plant supplying electrical equipment to Volkswagen allegedly linked to human rights abuses; incl. co response

In March 2019, Ukrainian media reported on alleged human rights concerns including health & safety abuses, exploitation, sexual harassment and denial of freedom of association at a Fujikura plant (English summary available below). According to the media report, the plant also supplies electrical equipment to Volkswagen.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Fujikura to respond to the allegations but the company did not respond. We subsequently reached out to Volkswagen for a statement regarding the issues raised. Their statement is available below.
