Asia: Forum-Asia's corporate accountability report reveals human and labour rights abuses and environmental harm allegedly caused by businesses; incl. cos. responses & non-responses
In September 2025, Forum-Asia published a report highlighting key concerns of human rights, labour rights and environmental harm, among other issues, allegedly caused by businesses across Asia. As demands for critical minerals continue to rise, mining activities have undoubtedly led to environmental degradation and pollution while workers’ rights and community health have also been adversely affected. Fundamental rights of Indigenous Peoples and workers from Free, Prior and Informed Consent and land rights to exploitation of shrimp farmers, freedom of association and collective bargaining and occupational health and safety are also identified in the report as areas of concerns. There are many companies allegedly linked to rights abuses in the report; however, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre have reached out to and covered in our previous articles.
Additionally, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre reached out to companies mentioned in the report that have not been covered in our website and these companies include Harita Group, Target, Tesco and Walmart. Target and Tesco responded with their responses available below but the others did not.
