G4S response to allegations workers of G4S Qatar incurring illegal recruitment fees

In areas of the world where we employ migrant workers, we have robust systems and policies to ensure that those workers are treated with respect and humanity.

We have committed substantial resources to ensure that not only do our standards meet good practice, but that we are an employer of choice in the industry. We have appointed a team of Migrant Worker Coordinators, who conduct direct surveys with employees to confirm that their experience during the recruitment process and their employment is consistent with our standards.

In May 2020 G4S adopted the ‘Employer Pays Principle’ as set out by the Leadership Group for Responsible Recruitment. Implementation of this principle has been completed in Oman, Thailand and UAE and we remain committed to completion in all markets well ahead of the LGPR objective of 2026.

G4S continues to work with the owners of the G4S-branded business in Qatar, with UNI, and with other agencies to raise standards for migrant workers.

... As noted in the report, the G4S branded business in Qatar is not owned by the group. It is owned by the Al-Attiyah Group of Trading Companies (AGTC), which operates under a contract that entitles AGTC to use the G4S brand in Qatar.
