Evictions and arrests of indigenous peoples took place for defending their lands against the building of the Barro Blanco hydroelectric dam. Bernardo Jimenez was handcuffed by police and transferred from the Barro Blanco project to the police station in Tolé which triggered the fury of the rest of the indigenous people who were kept at the entrance of the project.
