Glencore's response

Glencore operates two industrial assets producing copper and cobalt in the DRC: Kamoto Copper Company SA (KCC), a partnership with Gécamines, a state-owned enterprise, and Mutanda Mining SARL (MUMI), a partnership with the DRC government. These partnerships reflect our role as a long-term partner to the DRC government. Our financial contributions to the DRC government are disclosed in our annual Payments to Governments Report (glencore.com/publications/esg-publications).

Both KCC and MUMI have been awarded The Copper Mark and are the first mines in Africa to achieve certification against the updated RRA 3.0 standard. Achieving The Copper Mark required each operation to undertake independent third-party assessments against 33 criteria for responsible mining. The assessment findings and outcomes are publicly available on The Copper Mark website (coppermark.org/participants-home/participants/) and set out the commitments, controls, and ongoing processes in place to operate responsibly, including to identify and address human rights risks at the operations.
