In August 2022, for the third time in five months, the Marielle Vive camp of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) was shot at. The attack was carried out by a man from inside a car parked at the entrance to the camp. Gerson Oliveira, from the state coordination of the MST in São Paulo, deemed the situation as "very serious" and mentioned that intimidation and swearing against the campers have become more frequent.
