In August 2024, it was reported that workers at New Top Lotus are facing a series of violations, including non-payment of workers’ owed 1,000 kyats subsidy, non-payment of medical leave and workers’ wages being deducted if they miss a day of work, day labourers hired at the factory, young workers forced to work at the same level as adult workers, excessive production targets and verbal abuse if workers don’t meet the targets, unhygienic toilets and unfair dismissals.

In September 2024, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Majestic Legon respond. It did not.
