Ghana: Meta faces allegations over content moderators worker rights abuses hired by contractor

In April 2025, Meta faced allegations of worker rights abuses amongst their content moderators in Ghana that are employed by Majorel (owned by the French company, Teleperformance). Alleged abuses include, but are not limited to, psychological distress and negative mental health effects caused by going through the distressing images uploaded to Facebook and Instagram operated by Meta.

Foxglove, a UK-based NGO is preparing the lawsuit. A similar case was also filed in Kenya.
