The Alliance of Public Environmental Organizations received the reply to the appeal addressed to the highest authorities of Armenia to recognize Government decision N 627 null and void...which lays down that the land areas of six communities are recognized as public eminent domain for their further use by Zangezour Copper and Molybdenum Combine. One of these villages, Qajaran, which is deprived of 181,7 ha of land areas, opposed to this decision. The reply was signed by Energy and Natural Resources Ministry Staff Head K. Ghahramanyan. The letter particularly says...the mentioned decision “was adopted in accordance with RA Law “On Alienation of Property for Public and State Eminent Domain”” and that “this law doesn’t prescribe any requirement for public participation, expert opinion and professional substantiation of impact assessment…The recognition of land areas as “eminent public domain” is conditioned by the fact “Qajaran copper and molybdenum mine development program has national significance.”
