IHG response to recruitment-fee charging at Nepali agency Vision & Value

IHG is committed to respecting the human rights of all our colleagues, guests and the communities we operate in, and we continue to encourage those we do business with to prevent, mitigate and address adverse impacts on human rights...

We therefore take the concerns raised in the article very seriously and have been actively investigating this issue prior to contact from the BHRRC, having previously become aware of it. Following an internal review of Nepali recruitment by IHG managed hotels based in the UAE, we can confirm that one IHG managed hotel in the UAE currently has a contractual agreement in place with Vision & Value and that this agreement contains restrictions regarding the collection of recruitment fees from candidates. However, no workers have been recruited through this relationship in the past year.

In light of this issue, the hotel is in the process of carrying out additional due diligence and engaging with Vision & Value on the terms of its agreement. It is also engaging with any workers recruited through this agency who may still be working at the property to better understand potential impact, if any.
