IMF [International Metalworkers' Federation] World Congress Presses GE Global Strategy

"GE exploits workers everywhere," IUE-CWA President Edward Fire said in his presentation to the IMF World Congress. "Wherever the company operates, whether in the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia or Latin America, it resists workers' rights to organize and to trade union representation," he said. The IMF is providing full support to efforts to set the recognition of international labor standards by companies such as GE as a condition for world trade.
