“Anguish as 8 Kenyans Remain Detained in Libya for Weeks Amid Claims of Exploitation, False Charges”

Eight Kenyan families are living in fear and uncertainty as their relatives remain detained in Libya for more than six weeks.

The eight men had travelled to the North African nation hoping to secure construction jobs and improve their families' lives back home.

Instead, their dreams appear to have collapsed into a painful ordeal in the conflict-hit city of Benghazi, where they are currently being detained…

Their families are appealing to the Kenyan government to urgently intervene and help ensure their safe return home…

According to accounts, the group had secured construction jobs through recruitment agents operating across Kenya, Uganda and Dubai…

However, once they arrived in the North African state, they allegedly started facing numerous problems almost immediately.

They reportedly struggled with language barriers, poor working conditions and delayed salaries before matters escalated into arrests and detention.

"If possible, those agencies should be shut down. The agency that was used to send Victor is called Al-Majihur, and it is located in Westlands," said Monica Njeri, a cousin to Victor Gathua…
