On 16 October 2023, three human rights defenders from the group Appalachians Against Pipelines in the United States of America were arrested following a direct action where the activists locked themselves to Mountain Valley Pipeline equipment. Tara Marie Houska was arrested and charged with trespassing, Emily Adamski was arrested and charged with trespassing and obstruction, and Louisa Kornblatt was arrested and charged with trespassing, obstruction and obstruct free passage of others.
