Mizuho Financial Group's response to allegations

Due to confidentiality obligations, we cannot respond to questions regarding individual transactions.

Mizuho regards the electric power sector as one of the key sectors to be focused on in facilitating net zero transitions and sets medium-term targets for these sectors to reduce GHG emissions from financing and investment.

Furthermore, as stated in “Overview of Environmental and Social Management Policy for Financial Activities”, Mizuho controls risks through engagement in sectors(including gas-fired power generation) recognized in qualitative evaluations to have high transition risks. We confirm the status of client transition risk responses and support transition responses in a phased manner. Mizuho confirms and evaluates the status of clients’ responses to transition risks from the following perspectives: willingness to take measures against transition risk, presence of a transition strategy and quantitative targets, target level, tangible means to achieve the target, status of initiatives, track record, and objectivity.

Furthermore, Mizuho has put in place a framework to promote initiatives for respecting human rights in line with the UNGPs. Specifically, under the policy, Mizuho has established a human rights due diligence (HRDD) process and grievance mechanism, implements the identification and assessment of salient human rights issues, prevents and mitigates adverse impacts, implements monitoring of the response status, and ensures transparency through public disclosure…
