Myanmar: Garment workers report labour rights abuses incl. threats of arrest by the military, mandatory overtime, denial of leave & denial of permanent contracts; incl. co. responses

In July 2022, it was reported that workers at Kingsrich (Myanmar) Fashion Ltd. were facing a series of violations at the factory, including threats of arrest by the military, mandatory overtime, demotion and denial of wages if workers went on leave, workers forced to work as day labourers and dismissal if they missed a day of work, and lack of health and safety.

In September 2022, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited H&M and Marks & Spencer to respond. The full responses are included below.
