Project on International Arbitration will draft international business and human rights arbitration rules

" Business and Human Rights International Arbitration Project launched ", 7 Nov 2017

The Hague Institute for Global Justice is launching a project to resolve business and human rights disputes using international arbitration. The aim is to help provide access to remedy within the framework of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

...The project stems from a four year consultation launched by Lawyers for Better Business...The Working Group concluded that international arbitration could be adapted for use in business and human rights disputes and that it could help address the gap left by dysfunctional or corrupt national courts in many parts of the world.

...Experts in international human rights, international arbitration and business supply chains will now be brought together to draft rules designed specifically for international business and human rights arbitration (Hague International Business and Human Rights Arbitration Rules). The drafting will take place in consultation with stakeholders across the business, human rights and arbitration communities.
