We acknowledge EACOP Ltd’s response dated 5th March 2026 regarding the article published in Debates Indígenas. However, we strongly contest several claims presented, as they do not reflect the lived realities and experiences of affected Indigenous communities. At the outset, it is important to clarify that the information presented in the article is not based on inaccuracies or falsehoods. Rather, it reflects verified testimonies, documented experiences, and evidence collected directly from affected Indigenous Peoples, and these allegations were validated with the same traditional leaders and influential people who regularly attend EACOP quarterly engagement workshops in Arusha.

These communities are not opposing the construction of the EACOP project, nor are they seeking special treatment. Their demands are grounded in one principle: the respect, protection, and fulfillment of Indigenous Peoples’ rights. The research was conducted in February 2025 and later published in November 2025. However, EACOP’s response appears too general and overlooks some specific issues raised. At this stage, we would like to present some of the allegations that seem to have been overlooked, which further explain the concerns highlighted.
