[DOC] Sample letter to President Thein Sein calling for postponement of Shwe gas project [Burma]

Shwe Gas Movement, a Burmese organization in exile, is launching a Global Day of Action against the Trans-Burma oil and gas pipeline project in Burma, which has continued despite the project going through an area of active conflict, lack of, or incomplete land compensation, and other abuses. We are encouraging participating organization to do peaceful protests in their home countries, launch divestment campaign activities from the companies involved, and endorse our Open Letter to the president of Burma, Thein Sein. We know you may be unable to organize any activity but we would appreciate your endorsement of the letter (attached) asking for the suspension of the project until community rights are protected and a sustainable framework for development established...
