Transparency International Australia says a government inquiry into Australia's regional processing procurement is an important step towards ending corruption in the Pacific.
[...] Australia's government announced an independent review into the program — which includes current and former detention centres on Nauru and Papua New Guinea's Manus Island — after revelations the Home Affairs department granted contracts to companies linked to a bribery investigation.
In a report by the Sydney Morning Herald, a former director of contractor Paladin claims he reported allegations of bribery in PNG to Home Affairs but was ignored.
