In May 2025, it was reported that nine Indian workers employed as cleaners and foremen by Abdulla Ali Al Abdulaal EST at a Saudi Aramco site have experienced a range of labour rights violations, including passport confiscation, verbal abuse, violence, and failure to renew visas.
The workers are allegedly without food security, income, or access to legal support, and are unable to return home.
We are surviving on biscuits and tea… Some days, not even that. We have to ask our families in India to send us money just to buy food—sometimes we manage, sometimes we don’t. We just want to come home.Worker employed by Abdulla Ali Al Abdulaal EST at a Saudi Aramco site
In May, the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Abdulla Ali Al Abdulaal EST and Saudi Aramco to respond to the workers’ allegations of labour rights violations, and to disclose steps they have taken to investigate and remedy workers for the abuse. The Resource Centre also invited Saudi Aramco to disclose any human rights due diligence it undertakes prior to entering into contracts with contractors at Aramco sites and when monitoring working conditions at contractors. Abdulla Ali Al Abdulaal EST and Saudi Aramco did not respond to the Resource Centre.
