The inhabitants of Cuncumén, a town located in the Salamanca commune in the Coquimbo region, denounced the violent repression by the Special Forces (FF.EE.) of Carabineros (police officers), after the access route to the Pelambres mining company of the Luksic group was blocked, in protest against the contamination of dust that is caused by one of the mining company's dams. According to information provided by Radio JGM, five were reported injured, one seriously, and three were arrested after the repressive action of the uniformed police. "Carabineros won't let us pass. They are repressing with tear gas and pellets. One person was detained and kicked on the ground before being put into the police van, " denounced the inhabitants.
