Türkiye: Textile factories shut leaving +300 workers unemployed; incl. co. responses

In January 2025, it was reported that two factories under the Ebru Group indefinitely suspended production. Art Giyim, which employed 150 workers, had decreased its workforce and then suspended production indefinitely in May 2024, after becoming insolvent due to increases in costs and a decrease in orders. While employed, workers reported receiving their wages late, causing economic difficulties. Ebru Triko, which employed approx. 180 workers, suspended production indefinitely due to increases in production costs and a decrease in orders. Prior to its suspended production, workers were reportedly denied salaries for four months, and the factory closed before they could receive their owed compensation.

In January 2025, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Walt Disney Company, Boohoo, Next, River Island, Primark, Asda, Karl Lagerfield and MANGO to respond. The responses and non-responses can be found below.
