Ari Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau, a teacher and environmental agent in the Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau indigenous villages, died as a result of an acute hemorrhage caused by an impact on the neck with a blunt object, according to the doctor responsible for the medical expertise. The federal police initially raised the hypothesis of an accident but the Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau community maintains that Ari has been killed as a result of his environmental activism against illegal logging. Ha participated in the patrol of his indigenous land against illegal land occupation and deforestation for clandestine timber extraction. Indigenous leader Awapu Uru-eu-wau-wau says the marks of blows on Ari's neck and body show that he was stabbed with a knife.
