Cambodia: Rights groups and workers mark 12 years of deadly shooting of workers demanding higher minimum wage
"12th anniversary of Veng Sreng Shooting", 5 January 2026
This year marks 12 years since government forces cracked down on striking workers on Veng Sreng Blvd, killing four and leaving a 15-year-old boy missing. The only arrests made after the crackdown were of workers, union leaders and human rights defenders. We continue to call for justice and accountability for the victims, whose names we will never forget: Kim Phaleap, Sam Ravy, Yean Rithy, Pheng Kosal, and the still-missing Khem Sopath.
