Care workers moving to the UK for work will be banned from bringing family members under a planned visa crackdown announced by ministers as part of efforts to bring down migration figures.

The minimum salary for people moving to the country for work will also be hiked by more than £10,000 a year to curb the number of overseas workers entering the UK.

Home Secretary James Cleverly unveiled a five point plan on Monday which he said would deliver the biggest ever reduction in net migration after levels soared to a record high.
