It is reported that during an unscheduled inspection, wastewater samples taken by specialists from the Department of Ecology showed a 4.5-fold excess of manganese.

"It was also established that as a result of improper operation of treatment facilities, numerous spills occur into the Ulba River. Based on the results of the unscheduled inspection, Kazzinc LLC was fined 50 million tenge, and an order was issued to eliminate the violations," the report says...
