LIPSA's response on alleged supply chain links to harmful palm oil

We invited LIPSA to comment on AIDESEP's letter, but the company did not respond.

Update: On November 17th, LIPSA contacted us and provided the following response:

...Palm oil is one of the most important raw materials for Lipsa. We are committed to responsible sourcing and to using palm oil growth without deforestation and with full respect for human and community rights. In 2017 we developed the first Lipsa NDPE Policy and since then we work toward the implementation of our NDPE commitments across our supply chain. We yearly report our progress achieved. We have in place a grievance mechanism and we follow up our investigations following our decision tree and working jointly with our direct supplier and our sustainable partner Earthworm Foundation.

Regarding this case, as soon as we learned we engaged our direct supplier, Louis Dreyfus, to understand our link with Grupo Ocho Sur and start a proper investigation on this case. Our direct supplier has responded to this allegation. You could see their public response to it: Louis Dreyfus' response on alleged supply chain links to harmful palm oil - Business & Human Rights Resource Centre (business-humanrights.org)

We have received from LDC a detailed answer of their engagement with Ocho Sur that includes a field visit to the operations and stakeholders review. From our side, we still have the case open as we need further clarification on specific issues. We are still in engagement with our direct supplier to be able to have all the information needed to make decisions.

We will keep you updated and in our grievance log, we will publish the follow-up of this case...
