Myanmar: European brands response to alleged pregnancy discrimination, leave & wage violations among garment supply chain workers; incl. co. responses

Empty fashion runway

In July 2024, it was reported that workers at Myanmar Guotai Huasheng Glory Fashion Garment are facing a series of violations, including workers denied sick leave and allowances cut if workers take leave for health problems, verbal abuse if workers take leave, excessive production targets despite limited workers on production lines, workers pressured to sign contract to work extra overtime, workers forced to work overtime every Sunday without a break, and pregnant workers told to leave.

In December 2024, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Auchan (for Inextenso), Carrefour, and Tendam to respond. Auchan, Carrefour and Tendam responded. The responses are below.
